Finding a good cover illustrator. or not!

As an author and not an illustrator you tend to rely on others to capture what you would like in a book cover or interior illustration. I have unfortunately been trying to find an excellent artist to work on a cover for one of my books , and chose www.mikemotz.com seeing what was to offer and chose style 10..I didn't realise at the time that it wasn't actually Mike Motz that was doing the illustration but a nameless illustrator.. (I had read good things about Mr Motz. ) The first sketch was good.... and I okayed it.. However the final colour illustration was awful... so red!!! as you can see by this illustration. And no compensation for such bad work. I'm so disappointed about wasting precious time and of course money with no choice but to pay for the "finished" product.. It was described to me as if some child had coloured in with a red crayon... So I have a file I simple cannot use and now in contact with \ professional artist to do the magic for me..Wish I would have found him sooner. We live and learn! any constructive comments would be good thanks. As thats why Im posting this....

  2. Oh dear! I really think you should not have paid for such work, you should go onto illustraters hub, they have some great professional artists on there. And I agree with you Mike Motz is a good illustrator, pity he didnt do this for you!
