Social networking has become the way forward in getting your business started, or your books out "there" I'm amazed at how many applications there are out there.
One can get very confused if you do not know how to work them..
There are tons of links to search inside. I recently linked many of my accounts to Klout and facebook and twitter, there is Pintrest, Linkedin and many more. You need to chose which one is best for you and then just send your messages out and link them all together.
You get to meet a lot of good people, ok sometimes there are a few "strange beings" but that's what the block button is for :o)
